Science supporting Oleactiv®

Remnant cholesterol, defined as the cholesterol content of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins, is an LDL-independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease. These particles, which may carry up to four times more cholesterol than LDL particles, can easily penetrate arterial walls and trigger inflammation. 

Oleactiv® may modulates cardiometabolic risk factors by improving insulin sensitivity and reducing triglyceride and remnant cholesterol levels. Its mechanism of action is supported by a preclinical study demonstrating that Oleactiv improves both lipid and carbohydrate metabolism, supporting the prevention against atherosclerosis. Its clinical benefits are highlighted through a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover study intervention study, showing a reduction in risk factors associated with cardiometabolic disorders. 

 

Characterisation

Oleactiv®  combines polyphenols from grape, pomegranate, olive leaf, blackcurrant, artichole and red grape, providing the same level of phenolic compounds as consuming five servings of fruits and vegetables per day

Age: 40-70 years old
BMI 20-30 kg/m2, with BW >65 kg.
   • If ↓CVR*:  Fasting LDL: 1.16 – 1.9 g/L
   • If ↑CVR*:  Fasting LDL: 1.0 – 1.9 g/L
   *As per European Society of Cardiology guidelines

PROTOCOLS

Lipid metabolism: Fasting plasma TC, TG, LDL-C, HDL-C & RC
